Week of November 16th

Hello everyone... its time for an update!  This is the last week of grading for Trimester1, so the deadline for all assignments and missing work is this Friday Nov. 20th

ELA:  This week we will be identifying, analyzing, and evaluating the 3 types of writing in the six grade standards...(Informative-Argumentative-Narrative)

Next, we will revisit our first writing assignment of the year and turn it into a Summative Assessment (Wed. thru Fri.)

Soc. Studies:  This week we will be Introducing our First Civilization ....Mesopotamia!! Woot Woot
                       Why it matters now...The Mesopotamians had to overcome a lack of resources.  Today                                                           people still work to solve shortages of water, food, and resources.

Week of Sept. 21st

This is the First Week after Back to School Night and I hope all is well.  Thanks to all who could make it...sorry it lasted so long, but is was our first attempt at this and I hope you all got the feeling we love what we are doing, we care a lot about your child, and we hope this is the best year ever!

ELA:  Reading:  Maroo of the Winter Caves Chapters 6-9

           Writing:  The Hunt-a Narrative focusing on Details and Vivid Verbs
                           *Deployment - meaning your child will break out into sessions with either
Mr. Franey, Mrs. Hamilton, Mr. Kehoe, or Mrs. Adomchick based on need -using prior assessment
(Writing Standard 6.3)

 History:  We are studying Early Humans and PreHistory

Week of Sept 14th

Welcome back to school everyone.  Welcome to ACMS for the first time ever! Welcome new 6th grade students!!!  I will be teaching your child English Language Arts and History this year.
We are off to a great start, so please read and be ready for the issues on the list below in order to keep the great start going....

Back to School Night is this week - Thur. Sept. 17th

Shady Creek Payment #1 is due this week by Friday Sept. 18th

Shady Creek Field Trip is Oct 20 -24 (we return Fri @ 145pm)

Subjects:

Language Arts -
Reading:  We are reading a class novel together (Maroo of the Winter Caves).  Several tasks are being covered at once with this book (Elements of Plot, basic comprehension skills, vocabulary development, Lit. Circle job training, and a connection to History Class)

Writing:  We are starting this year with Narrative Writing

History - We are studying Archaeology, Early Humans, and World Maps

Reading:  Book Club #3 started today (Monday) Everyone is in a new book club...Make sure your child is reading the correct number of pages per night


History:  Ancient Egypt Final....Starting Wed-design your own Ancient Egypt Museum Website
