Week of Mar 9th

Welcome Back!

This week we will be studying the following in both Science and Social Studies...

Science:  We've started a new Unit (From Cells to Organisms) Lesson 1 is -Disease Outbreak and Lesson 2 is -An Invisible Organism

Social Studies:  We are studying Ancient Egypt.  This week we will be covering Pyramids, Tombs, and the Afterlife

Week of Feb 10th

Welcome back from a Sunny then Windy wacky weekend!

This week will do the following in both Science and Soc. Studies Classes:

Science:  We will wrap up our Weather and Climate Unit by finishing our latest "Symposium" of Atmospheric Scientists, Climatologists, Hydrologists, and Meteorologists.  Then we will do the last lesson in the Unit "Review". Then we will take a final test.

Social Studies:  We are now studying Ancient Egypt.  Lessons will feature maps, vocabulary, and text introductions/mini lessons

Week of Feb 3rd

Welcome back to an extremely cold Monday! (6 Degrees?)

This is what we will be studying this week in both Soc. Studies and Science:

Soc. Studies:  This week we will start a new Unit - Ancient Egypt!  We will first design KWL Posters that we will refer back to at the end of the week in order to document what we learned.  After that, we will work on Egypt Vocabulary and Mapping skills.

Science:  This week we will finish researching and analyzing "Global Warming Data Graph Cards"
Each graph "tells a story" and gives us information to use in order to complete the students sheets and analysis questions.  After that we will start Lesson 17 - People, Weather, and Climate.

Week of Jan 27th

Welcome back from a nice but then sad weekend with the passing of Kobe Bryant.
This is what we will be studying this week:

Science:  We will be finishing up our Weather/Climate Unit.  We will get into Global Warming and then begin reviewing for the Unit Test.

Social Studies:  We will be finishing up our Mesopotamia Unit as well.  We will take a unit test. We are also finishing up our hands-on Ziggurat Project and the Historical Fiction story that goes along with it.

Week of Jan 6th

Welcome back and Happy New Year!

This is what we will be covering this week in Science and Soc. Studies:

Science: Oceans and how they affect Climate, Atmosphere and Climate Review, DRI Guest Speakers and Lessons about "Citizen Science: Snowflakes"

Social Studies:  Mesopotamian Architecture, Research City-States and Ziggurats, Hands-On Activity: Build a Ziggurat with Playing Cards

Week of Dec 16th

Welcome back and I hope you got to enjoy the BlueBird Powder Day Sunday!

Science:  This week we will be studying Atmosphere and Climate.  We will be using the new text and a "Listen-Stop-Write" strategy this week, and we will be getting back into our Science Notebook as well. We will also use Kahoot to start reviewing all we have learned so far in the Weather/Climate Pilot Unit

Social Studies: We will start the week with a Barter Market Check In and play a Barter Market Simulation Game.  Then we will continue with Inventions from Mesopotamia.  We will finish the week with Architecture in Mesopotamia as well.

Week of December 9th

Welcome back from another Wild Weekend of Weather!

This week we will be doing the following in each class...

Science: Weather and Climate
This week we will be studying Weather Maps and Forecasting Weather.  It should be lots of fun since the end product will be students forecasting weather using their chromebook camera and then casting it onto the class TV!

Social Studies: We have been studying the 7 Features of Civilization and this week we will finish up Government piece, Hammurabi. Then we will study Inventions of Mesopotamia. After that we will research ancient city-states and Ziggurats.
